Multipacks (and pack-size strategy)

Selling the 2-pack, 6-pack, and case as their own ASINs — one fulfillment fee spread across more units, higher AOV, and the pack architecture decision that quietly rules consumable margins.

A multipack is its own ASIN (own GTIN or exemption, 'sold as set' prep) whose economics differ structurally from the single: one FBA fulfillment fee covers the whole pack, so per-unit fulfillment cost collapses as pack size grows — often the difference between an unprofitable single and a healthy 4-pack on cheap consumables.

Architecture choices: variation-family the pack sizes under one parent (shared reviews, shopper choice) and let Subscribe & Save ride the pack that matches consumption cadence. Watch the cannibalization math — the right pack ladder raises blended margin even as it lowers price-per-unit, and B2B quantity discounts stack on top for case sizes.

The numbers

  • One fulfillment fee per pack: per-unit fulfillment cost falls with pack size — the consumables margin lever.
  • Own ASIN + 'sold as set' prep; family with the single via variations for shared reviews.
