Search autocomplete (suggestions)
The dropdown Amazon offers as shoppers type — real high-frequency query completions, and the oldest free keyword-research trick that still works because the data source is the shoppers themselves.
Autocomplete surfaces completions drawn from actual search behavior: type a seed and the dropdown ranks the frequent continuations, including the modifier vocabulary (colors, sizes, use-cases) shoppers attach to your category. A–Z expansion (seed + each letter) systematically extracts the set.
It complements volume tools rather than replacing them — suggestions confirm a phrase is genuinely typed (tools sometimes model phantom volume) and expose fresh phrasings before tools index them, but give no numbers. Seasonal checks matter: the same seed autocompletes differently in October than March, which is demand migration announcing itself.
