Amazon search volume (exact vs. broad)
Third-party estimates of monthly searches per term, modeled on Amazon's own SFR data — with 'exact' counting the precise phrase and 'broad' absorbing variants; mixing the two is how keyword lists lie.
Amazon publishes ranks (SFR), not counts, so every search-volume number you see is a model — Helium 10 and peers calibrate estimates against ABA data. 'Exact' volume counts the literal phrase; 'broad' aggregates the phrase plus variants and word orders, which can multiply the number severalfold.
Two disciplines: compare terms only within the same measurement type, and trend a term against itself over time rather than trusting absolute levels. For seasonality calls, weekly exact volume is the honest series — it is the one we publish from in the journal, and the one that catches false October peaks before they misprice your Q4 buy.

- Live read (Helium 10, Aug 2026): 'yoga mat' exact monthly volume ≈ 552,000; related term 'walking pad' ≈ 768,000 — relative magnitudes matter more than absolutes.
- All third-party volumes are models over ABA's SFR; exact ≠ broad, and cross-tool comparisons are meaningless.
