Price the promotion before you commit to it.
Every deal stacks a discount, a fee, and an ad budget on the same unit. This is the math sellers run before every Lightning Deal, coupon, Prime Day, or Black Friday event — what one unit earns during the promo, how much of it can go to ads, and the TACoS ceiling the event can carry.

Versus full price: —. Variable deal fees cap at $5,000 per promotion (2026). Returns, storage, and overhead are yours to subtract on top.
What do Amazon deals cost in 2026?
Lightning Deals, Best Deals, and event-period Prime Exclusive Discounts run on a performance-based structure: a $100 upfront fee per promotion plus 1.5% of promotional sales, capped at $5,000 — with $50 off the upfront fee for deals scheduled early (before April 30 for Prime Day 2026). Lightning Deals selected for peak events like Prime Day or Black Friday carry higher fees. Everyday Prime Exclusive Discounts outside events remain free.
How do coupon fees work?
Coupons charge a small upfront fee plus a percentage of coupon-attributed sales under the structure introduced in 2025 — on top of the discount itself, which you fund. The calculator models both as editable inputs; always confirm the exact figures quoted in your Coupons dashboard when you schedule.
Is it ever right to run a deal at a loss?
Sometimes — deliberately. Deals buy velocity, and velocity feeds rank that pays back in the weeks after the event. But that only works as a plan with a number on it: know exactly how much the event loses per unit, cap the units, and check whether post-event rank actually held. A loss you did not calculate is not a strategy, it is a leak.
