FBA size tiers
Amazon's classification bands — small standard, large standard, large bulky, extra-large — set by a unit's dimensions and weight, which together with weight bands fix your fulfillment fee.
Every FBA product is assigned a size tier from its packaged dimensions and weight. The current US structure runs small standard (light, envelope-scale items), large standard (most products), large bulky, and extra-large bands for oversized goods — each with weight-banded fulfillment fees inside it.
Tier boundaries are cliff edges: crossing one re-prices every unit you ever ship. That makes packaging engineering a finance function — a product redesigned to drop from large standard's upper bands into a lower one, or to duck under a dimensional cutoff, buys margin no negotiation can. Confirm the tier Amazon has on file matches your actual packaging; misclassifications persist until challenged.
