Amelia (Amazon's AI seller assistant)

The generative-AI assistant inside Seller Central — announced at Accelerate 2024 — answering account questions, pulling your data conversationally, and inching toward taking actions on your behalf.

Amelia is Amazon's seller-facing AI: a conversational layer over Seller Central that answers policy and how-to questions, retrieves your own account metrics on request, and — per Amazon's roadmap — escalates toward diagnosing issues and executing fixes. It rolled out in beta waves from September 2024.

Treat it as a faster index, not an oracle: policy answers deserve verification against the actual help page (hallucinated confidence is a failure mode in every assistant), and data pulls are convenience, not analysis. Its trajectory matters more than its present — an agent that files cases and fixes listings is Amazon's stated direction; operators who learn its capabilities each quarter stay ahead of the ones who dismissed the beta.

The numbers

  • Launched in beta at Accelerate (September 2024), expanding capability waves since.
  • Current shape: conversational answers + your-account data retrieval; roadmap: diagnosis and actions.
  • Verify policy answers against source pages — assistant confidence is not accuracy.
