Pan-European FBA

Amazon's EU inventory distribution — stock placed across European fulfillment centers sells with local fees in each marketplace — the logistics upgrade that VAT registrations gatekeep.

Pan-EU lets Amazon distribute your inventory across its European network: enrolled ASINs fulfill locally in each marketplace (local fulfillment fees instead of cross-border EFN surcharges, faster promises). The gate is tax: storing goods in a country creates VAT registration obligations there, so Pan-EU participation is bounded by which countries' storage you activate.

The economics are compelling at velocity (per-unit savings versus EFN cross-border fees compound quickly) and premature before it — VAT compliance overhead per country is a fixed cost. Standard path: launch EU via one country + EFN, measure, then activate Pan-EU storage countries as volume justifies each registration.

The numbers

  • Mechanics: inventory distributed across EU FCs → local fulfillment fees + faster promises per marketplace.
  • Gate: storage country = VAT registration obligation; activate countries as volume justifies compliance cost.
