Single-keyword campaigns (keyword isolation)
The PPC structure that gives one hero keyword its own campaign — its own budget, bid, placement modifiers, and clean data — reserved for the terms that decide your P&L.
Keyword isolation puts a high-stakes term in a dedicated exact-match campaign so nothing competes with it for budget, its placement modifiers are tuned to its own auction, and its performance reads unpolluted. The old SKAG-everything doctrine died of management overhead; isolation survives for the handful of keywords where precision pays.
Use it for hero terms carrying meaningful daily spend, launch beachheads needing guaranteed budget, and brand-defense terms whose economics differ from everything else. Everything else lives comfortably in themed campaigns — structure should be as granular as your attention, not more.
The numbers
- Isolate when: a term deserves its own budget guarantee, placement tuning, or unpolluted attribution.
- Modern form: a few hero-term campaigns atop themed campaigns — not the legacy one-keyword-per-campaign sprawl.
