Returns processing fee
The per-return FBA charge — always on apparel and shoes, and since 2024 on any product whose return rate exceeds its category threshold — Amazon pricing the returns culture back to sellers.
Apparel and shoes have always paid a processing fee on every customer return. The 2024 extension generalized it: products in other categories whose monthly return rate exceeds their category-specific threshold pay the fee on the returns above threshold — size-tiered, and stacked on top of the unrefunded fulfillment fee and refund administration fee.
It converts return-rate from a soft quality signal into an invoiced cost, which changes the math on fit-risk products: size guidance, accurate imagery, and Fit Insights-style corrections now have direct fee ROI. Watch your return-rate dashboard against category thresholds — the fee arrives without ceremony when you cross.
