Meltable inventory window
FBA's summer embargo on heat-sensitive products — meltables are only accepted October 16 through April 14; stock still in FCs after the cutoff gets marked unfulfillable.
Chocolate, gummies, certain cosmetics and wax products are classified meltable: FBA accepts them only in the cool window (roughly Oct 16 – Apr 14) and requires removal before the summer cutoff — remaining units flip to unfulfillable and head to disposal or return at your cost.
Seasonal confectionery businesses live by this calendar: size spring buys to sell through before mid-April, and plan summer continuity through merchant fulfillment with cold-chain packaging or a temperature-controlled 3PL. The cutoff is enforced by classification, not by your opinion of the product's melting point — check the classification early.
